Our facility maintains a full-time year-round animal care staff to maintain a clean, healthy, and happy environment for all of our animals, and you!

Our knowledgeable staff knows that our animals depend upon them for daily care, and no matter what the weather conditions are, our staff is always here to do just that.

They know they’ll be working in insulated overalls in 18 degree winter weather, in sloppy old work boots after sustained rains, and tank-tops under 98 degree blazing summer sun. Voluntarily signing up to help with bringing in the hay after working a normal eight hour day is an act of love!

Our facility is approved by USDA, and endorsed by AAA.

PETTING ZOO STAFF

Our zookeeper staff not only takes care of the animals’ daily needs, but also their housing and breeding concerns as well. Animal management is their number one priority, but they also keep a very watchful eye on their animal pals’ daily behavior, as well as all that affects them. All zookeepers here are hand-picked based upon their love of animals.

RIDING STABLES STAFF

Our trail guides are some of the friendliest folks you’ll meet in the Smokies. They are not only expert riders, but they’re always ready to share helpful local recommendations, info about horses and horse care, and sometimes a funny tale or two!

Our stables staff hand-picks our riding horses for their good traits and trustworthiness. They must be sure-footed and good natured.

They also keep our riding trails well maintained and safe.

And, just in case you feel a bit insecure about riding, they go that extra mile to help you relax so that you’ll truly enjoy your horseback riding experience here.

PONY RIDE STAFF

Just like our stables staff, our pony staff provides excellent and loving care for our smaller equines. And, not only do they take care of the ponies, they are also dedicated to working with you to convince your youngster to climb aboard should they be a bit timid. Sometimes all it takes is a little nudge and a touch of TLC to gently boost your child’s confidence for their first ride!

GIFT SHOP STAFF

Our gift shop receptionists deliver a safety speech to each and every guest before they enter the zoo. They ensure that our visitors, as well as our animals, enjoy a safe and fun visit. Your safety is our top priority, and our important safety rules, combined with helpful signs along the pathways, ensure that your family will have a fun and unforgettable day at the Deer Farm!
